Learn More About Hearst Ranch Property

!±8± Learn More About Hearst Ranch Property

In 1891 William Randolph Hearst, the famous newspaper tycoon inherited the Hearst Ranch property. The ranch was once part of the famous Hearst Estate that included the splendid Hearst castle. When William Randolf passed away in 1957 the land was given to the California state. It is a famous tourist attraction and draws a million plus visitors per year. Much of the surrounding lands of Hearst Castle make up the Hearst Ranch property. The Hearst Corporation has wanted to find some way to keep the cattle ranch as a working concern just like William Randolph's father had done since his original purchase in 1865.

William Randolf's great grandson Stephan Hearst, came up with a solution. He decided to sell grass-fed beef from the cattle as gourmet food. By doing this he felt that he would be able to make the ranch self sufficient and preserve the land for future generations. The corporation managed to strike a deal with the Californian state to preserve the 82,000-acre ranch. Jack Ranch is also included in the Hearst brand this is a sprawling 73,000-acre ranch that is located in Cholame, California. These ranches have beautiful rolling hills with native grasses like trefoil, rye, clovers, and needle grass. Hearst Ranch is operated by Stephen Hearst.

The cattle on the Hearst Ranch are all completely grass fed with no artificial feed whatsoever they are Shorthorn, Angus and Hereford breeds. The cattle are ready for harvest at a weight of 1,000 or 1,100 lbs and are slaughtered humanely.

Grass fed beef gourmet food is in fact better for you than corn and traditionally fed cattle. There is up to 10 times more beta carotene than traditionally fed beef. This helps your immune system and helps with healthy bone maintenance. There is up to 3 times more omega 3 and vitamin E in grass fed beef. This also helps the immune system and your cardiovascular system. This organic beef also has 3 times as much "conjugated linoleic acid." This fat helps to reduce LDL or bad cholesterol.

Not only is it better for your health but you will also notice that grass fed beef tastes better than traditional beef. In fact this gourmet food tastes different in different months because of the different grasses and forage that the cattle find. There is no minimum requirement for an order. It is all shipped overnight and is frozen. Grass fed beef can be cooked at lower temperatures but will require shorter cooking times.

Beef is not the only gourmet food that Hearst Ranch offers. "Alaskan Wild Red Salmon" is offered, which comes from the clear waters of Western Alaska. This salmon has a sweet odor, firm flesh and a beautiful color. The "American Bronze Turkey" is from an original breed that can trace its origins back to the 1800's. Hearst Ranch also offers more mundane foods such as hot dogs, hamburgers, bacon, ham and pork. Grass fed lamb and beef jerky are also available. No gourmet food would be complete without sauces and oils, which Hearst Ranch offers under their own brand. They also sell hats, fleeces, hoodies, and long T-shirts.
